Residents of a nursing home in Sweden are reaching new levels of despair after finding out receiving COVID vaccinations does not enable them to receive visits from family members, according to reports.
Senior citizens living at Villa Magnolia nursing home in Stockholm were shocked to discover their relatives are still not welcome inside the building, even after residents and caretakers have been administered both doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

"The elderly have lost their zest for life and are considering jumping from the balcony," Fria Tider reports.

Residents say their families can only visit them outdoors at the facility, where harsh winter conditions could put the elderly at greater risk for illness.

"Everyone has talked about it being good soon," Karin Lundell, 91, told TV4 Nyheterna.

"They have promised that when you get those syringes, everything is ok, but that is not the case."

Bengt Nilsson, 97, compared the situation to "hell" and said he has considered jumping from a balcony.

Staffers say residents are becoming increasingly despondent and agitated, questioning why they cannot make decisions for themselves.

Stockholm officials reportedly claim they can only lift visitation restrictions all at once, and cannot make exceptions for select municipalities or care facilities.
